McDonald’s – Burger King French Fries – You Will Be Amazed.

Have you ever wondered how Mcdonald’s or Burger King fries stays crispy, rigid and upright all the time ? I think you do. This recipe will teach you how to do it at home. The good part is you can make loads of them in one day and store them in the freezer for as long as 5 months. But I do not think they will last that long 🙂 because they taste incredible as well and it is free of preservatives, sugar, artificial colors and harmful chemicals. This is heaven on earth for french fry lovers. Nothing beats a fresh fried , golden brown McDonald fries. It requires a bit of work upfront to make them but then you can eat french fries whenever you want without doing any work. Lets get to it!

 

Ingredients

  • Potatoes (You can do it in bulk if you have storage room in your freezer)
  • Vinegar of your choice (3.3 fl. oz.)(100ml)
  • Salt (1.5 tsp)
  • Ice cubes (In order to stop the cooking process)
  • Peanut oil, canola oil, vegetable oil, safflower oil, grape-seed oil etc. (Any oil is fine with high smoke point)

Instructions

1st part

1- First of all ,peel the potato skins and slice them nicely like Mcdonald’s fries. Immediately after slicing them, put them in a bowl filled with cold water in order to prevent the potatoes going black. Do not let them stay out of the water bowl.

2- After you slice all the potatoes you will notice that the water in the bowl gains a yellow color. This is starch coming out of the fries. Wash all the sliced potatoes untill the water in the bowl stays colorless. This processs removes excess starch from the potatoes.

3- Heat 67 fl. oz. (2 liters) of water in a kettle and pour that into a deep frying pan.

4- Add (3.3 fl. oz.) (100ml) vinegar into the pan. Add 1.5 tsp of salt and bring the mixture to boil.

5- Add enough sliced potatoes to the pan and cook for 3 minutes. The reason we use vinegar is to preserve the yellow color of the fries before cooking and give them a golden brown color after cooking.

6- Get a bowl of cold water and put ice cubes in it. 1/3 ice and 2/3 water is a good ratio.

7- Get them out of boiling water and put them in the ice-cold water mixture to stop the cooking process. Do net let ice cubes to melt, add more ice cubes if necessary. Cook all the fries this way.

2nd part

8- Take the fries out of the water and put them on a kitchen towel to drain the water. Use another kitchen towel on top if necessary.

9- Heat the oil up to 160 degrees(C) or 320 degrees(F). If you see bubbles coming out when you put a fry in to the oil it means we can start frying.

10- Leave them in the heated oil for about 3 minutes and take them out to a flat tray. After this process fries will be half cooked. Drain the oil with a filter and let them cool down to room temparature.

11- You can cook a batch of fries in hot oil before sending them to the freezer.

12- Finally leave the trays in the freezer for a bout 6-7 hours. You can now put them in plastic bags of your chosen size and store them. They will last for 5-6 months if you leave them in the freezer.
